Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club, or Wolves for short, was founded in 1877 and is a founding member of the English Football League. The club is based in Wolverhampton, in the West of England, and plays its home games at the Molineux Stadium, which has a capacity of over 31,000.

Wolves enjoyed great success in the 1950s, winning multiple league titles and playing a major role in the development of European club football through friendly matches against top foreign clubs. After decades of mixed success and spells outside the top division, the club returned to the Premier League in 2018, buoyed by ambitious investment and a strong Portuguese influence on the pitch and in the staff.

Wolverhampton itself is a city with an industrial past, located in the West Midlands.
