Vrijopnaam is a Dutch energy supplier that focuses on sustainability and innovation. The company supplies exclusively 100% Dutch solar power and CO₂-compensated gas, with which customers contribute to a greener energy supply.
A unique aspect of Vrijopnaam is the ‘Paneelopnaam’ concept. This allows customers to ‘rent’ solar panels in one of Vrijopnaam’s solar parks, without having their own roof. For a one-off fee of €99 per panel, you generate at least 250 kWh annually for nine years, which is settled on the energy bill.
Vrijopnaam also offers dynamic energy contracts, where the rates for electricity per hour and gas per day vary based on current market prices. This allows customers to adjust their energy consumption to the most advantageous times, which can lead to savings.
Customers have insight into their energy consumption and costs via the Vrijopnaam app, and can easily make changes or purchase additional Panelenopnaam.
Vrijopnaam was founded in 2015 by Marc Kluijtmans, Casper Hengst and Bas Wijnen, with the aim of enabling every Dutch citizen to accelerate the transition to a more sustainable energy market themselves.
Since 2018, the company has received a grade 10 from the Consumers’ Association and other organisations in the ‘Sustainability of Energy Suppliers Survey’, which underlines its commitment to sustainability.
