TSG 1899 Hoffenheim is a relatively young force in German professional football. The club was founded in 1899, but played at amateur level until the 1990s. Thanks to financial support from businessman and former player Dietmar Hopp, Hoffenheim made a rapid rise through the German football pyramid. In 2008, the club was promoted to the Bundesliga, where it has remained a fixture ever since. Especially under coach Julian Nagelsmann, who led the first team at a young age, Hoffenheim developed into a modern and competitive team.
TSG Hoffenheim’s home games are played in the PreZero Arena, located in Sinsheim. The stadium was opened in 2009 and has a capacity of around 30,000 spectators. Although Hoffenheim does not have a large following like traditional top clubs, the stadium is modern, well-organized and is characterized by a family-oriented and sporty atmosphere.
Hoffenheim is a small village in the municipality of Zuzenhausen, in the state of Baden-Württemberg. The club does not represent a large city, but a rural region, which is quite unique in German top-flight football. The nearby city of Sinsheim plays an important role in the infrastructure around the club. Despite criticism of its commercial character and the influence of Hopp, Hoffenheim is praised for its youth academy, modern facilities and stable policies.
