Montpellier Hérault Sport Club, or Montpellier HSC for short, is a French football club from the city of Montpellier in the south of France. The club was founded in 1919 as Stade Olympique Montpelliérain. In 1974, the club was given its current name and since then Montpellier HSC has been a major player in French football. The club had its greatest success in 2012, when it won the Ligue 1 title for the first time in its history.
