The story begins on September 9, 1890 – the day Harland Sanders was born in Henryville, Indiana. In the first period of his life he often changes jobs (steamboat captain, train conductor and farmer) and travels all over America. When Harland Sanders is forty, he buys a motel in Kentucky and starts selling his Southern style chicken. The restaurant is so well known in the area that he is called the ‘Kentucky Colonel’. The Colonel puts on the iconic white suit for the first time. From that moment on, the Colonel is nowhere else to be seen. In the winter he wears a woolen suit, in the summer a light cotton suit.
The first KFC restaurant opens in the Netherlands – in Rotterdam to be precise. KFC now has more than ninety restaurants in the Netherlands! And it doesn’t stop there. We have the ambition to open many more restaurants.
