Göztepe Spor Kulübü is a football club from İzmir, founded in 1925. It is one of the oldest sports clubs in Turkey and has a strong tradition in Turkish football. The team achieved its greatest success in the 1960s and 1970s, winning the Turkish Cup twice (1969, 1970) and reaching the semi-finals of the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1969, which was a major achievement for a Turkish team at that time.

The club plays its home matches at Gürsel Aksel Stadium, which opened in 2020 with a capacity of around 20,000. Before that, Göztepe played at the historic İzmir Atatürk Stadium and also used smaller local grounds. The new stadium, located in the Göztepe district, has become a modern home for the club and a symbol of its revival.

Göztepe represents İzmir, Turkey’s third-largest city, located on the Aegean coast. The city has a rich cultural history and a passionate football culture, with rivalries involving local clubs such as Karşıyaka and Altay. Göztepe’s supporters, known for their strong loyalty, have played a major role in keeping the club alive through financial difficulties and lower league years, helping it return to the Süper Lig in recent seasons.
