Girona FC is a club from the city of Girona, in Catalonia, and they have been working hard in recent years. Founded in 1930, but only recently became a permanent name in La Liga. They play in red and white shirts and their stadium, Montilivi, is modest in size but atmospheric and increasingly better filled.

The club was in the lower divisions for years, but got a big boost when City Football Group (yes, the one from Manchester City) got involved. Since then: better players, stricter policy, and suddenly competing in the top of Spain.

Girona plays fresh, attacking football, with guts. They have a kind of nothing-to-lose mentality and have been one of the surprises of the past few seasons. No big budget, but smart choices and a lot of team spirit.
