FC Metz, officially Football Club de Metz, is a French professional football club based in Metz, in the Grand Est region of northeastern France. The club was founded in 1932 and plays its home matches at Stade Saint-Symphorien, which has a capacity of around 25,000 spectators.
Metz has a long history of competing in French football, frequently moving between Ligue 1 and Ligue 2. The club won the Coupe de France twice, in 1984–85 and 1987–88, and has also claimed the Coupe de la Ligue in 1985.
The team’s colors are white and grenat (maroon), and they are nicknamed Les Grenats. FC Metz is known for its strong youth academy, which has produced players like Robert Pirès, Sylvain Wiltord, and Miralem Pjanić.
Stade Saint-Symphorien, located on the banks of the Moselle River, has been the club’s home since 1923 (before Metz’s professional founding) and has undergone several renovations. The club’s training facilities, called Centre d’Entraînement Robert Pirès, support both the first team and youth development programs.
