Heracles Almelo is a football club from Almelo, founded in 1903. The club plays its home games in the Erve Asito, a modern and compact stadium with space for around 12,000 spectators.
Heracles is a real people’s club from the east of the country and is known for its down-to-earthness, dedication and strong team spirit. The club sometimes commutes between the Eredivisie and Keuken Kampioen Divisie, but is usually found at the highest level. In 2005, Heracles was promoted to the Eredivisie, and since then they have held their own for a long time.
The name “Heracles” comes from Greek mythology, which is unique in Dutch football. The club has a modest history, but in the distant past (1927 and 1941) it did become national champion.
