AFC Ajax, usually just called Ajax, is one of the most famous and successful football clubs in the Netherlands. The club is from Amsterdam and was founded on 18 March 1900. Ajax plays its home games in the Johan Cruijff ArenA, a modern stadium with a capacity of over 55,000 spectators.
Ajax is known for its attacking style of play, talent development and rich history in both national and international competitions. The club has won numerous national titles in the Eredivisie and has also performed on the highest European stage, with the highlight being winning the UEFA Champions League in 1971, 1972, 1973 and 1995.
An important part of the club is the youth academy, De Toekomst. There, young players are trained according to the famous Ajax philosophy: technical, creative and with a lot of ball possession. Many top footballers started their careers at Ajax, such as Johan Cruijff, Dennis Bergkamp, Wesley Sneijder, and more recently Frenkie de Jong and Matthijs de Ligt.
