Algemeen Dagblad (AD) is one of the largest newspapers in the Netherlands. It targets a broad audience and provides daily news about domestic affairs, foreign affairs, sports, entertainment and lifestyle. In contrast to quality newspapers such as NRC or de Volkskrant, AD is written in a more accessible style and focuses more on current affairs, human news and popular themes.
AD has both a national edition and a series of regional supplements, which focus on local news in different parts of the country. Think of collaborations with regional titles such as Eindhovens Dagblad, de Gelderlander, Brabants Dagblad and others – together they form the “ADR Nieuwsmedia” network.
The newspaper is available both in print and online, and has a busy website where videos, columns and live blogs can also be found. The tone is smooth, down-to-earth and often direct, which makes AD popular with a broad audience that wants to be informed of the news quickly.
